THE DUTIES OF PAGODA IN CAMBODIAN SOCIETY - PARAGRAPH 17


Pagodas play very important roles in Cambodian society. For many reasons, it came to Cambodia since the third century, and 95% of Cambodian people nowadays are Buddhists. Pagodas are educational places. There are many schools built in pagodas both in the past and present to educate people. Most scholars of Cambodia graduated from pagoda. Also, there are many student staying at pagodas to continue their studies in Phnom Penh. In addition, pagodas help people live in peaceful lives. Because of the dharma or the Buddha, Cambodian people can keep their lives living in peace. The dharma teaches people not to kill other lives. All in all the pagodas are useful for Cambodian society because they are educational places, to provide peace and places to keep Cambodian culture.
